Only nature offers the most elegant solutions to complex problems. The Servophil innovation team has already successfully implemented several solutions in large industrial plants.

Our focus is on the problem of odour/deposit control in various water systems. Complex solutions require sophisticated analysis, in-depth knowledge and extensive experience. Over the past six months, Servophil has rethought and redeveloped the methodology and tools for system assessment of paper/cardboard machines.

The functional bacteria (S-BACPRO products) can only ‘deliver their full potential’ if all essential biotechnological parameters are within the green range and the solution works according to the key-lock principle.

The system analysis for the S-BACPRO approach is carried out by biotechnologists and paper engineers in order to offer you a tailor-made solution. The following important parameters are examined in order to create a functioning concept:

• Suitability of the S-BACPRO system

• Nutrient supply (‘Liebig's barrel’)

• Hydraulic and energy conditions

• Determination and elimination of KO factors

• Quality requirements for the end product

• Environment, climatic conditions, etc.

Case study

In Q4/2024, the paper-based biotechnological system was commissioned in a paper mill. Challenges: Waste paper, restricted water cycle and intense odour pollution for the surrounding communities. The customised dosing concept (concentration range, dosing intervals and technology) was presented to the customer in detail.

We were able to carry out the three-week trial run in Q1/2025. Thanks to the innovative approach using functional bacteria, the dynamics of the microbiont community were changed so effectively that the qualitatively and quantitatively measured odour emissions were reduced by 40%. The goal was achieved – without any biocides or conventional chemicals!
